A little about me

I work on technology before it becomes familiar.

I started in operating system security and helped build container isolation before Docker made it commonplace. I then spent years in enterprise storage, making large systems more dependable and easier to support. These days, I focus on AI assisted engineering. I use the tools, but I also spend a lot of time figuring out how teams can use them well.

I do my best work with a difficult technical problem, thoughtful collaborators, and enough room to understand the answer properly.

Distinguished Engineer

Hewlett Packard Enterprise

I lead an AI developer tooling team and help modernize a major storage control plane. My work includes agentic workflows, engineering context, formal evaluations, and the practices that make AI assisted development useful in day to day engineering.

2006 to 2022

Principal Engineer

3PAR Storage / HPE

I worked on enterprise storage, file services, serviceability, and security. Much of that work sat at the point where a difficult technical problem met a customer who needed the system to work.

2000 to 2006

Software Engineer

HP-UX Security

Early in my career I helped build OS-level container isolation and role-based access control, long before containers became a familiar part of the software vocabulary.
